Dividing land

Can I split this, and what will it cost?

Step 3 of 6

How do approvals and permits work?

The answer

You submit the plat and engineering plans, meet with planning staff, and present to the planning commission, often at a public hearing where neighbors can speak. Expect requested changes. Meeting with neighbors before the hearing turns opposition into questions you can answer.

Public hearings can be contentious. Preparation and a calm presentation win more than arguments.
